Four evidence labels
- Measured
- Observed directly with a method described by the researcher.
- Modeled
- Calculated from anatomy, physics or statistical assumptions rather than directly tested.
- Estimated
- Best represented by a range or probability with meaningful uncertainty.
- Reported
- Recorded by a credible source but potentially exceptional or difficult to reproduce.
Maximum does not mean normal
Exceptional records are interesting, but they can distort a reader’s mental picture. When possible, TuffShark separates typical adult ranges, verified specimens and historical reports.
