What we are building
TuffShark began with shark questions and now follows those questions into the larger system: currents, deep-sea pressure, food webs, coastal habitats and ocean change. We turn commonly repeated claims into visual tools, evidence labels and readable research files. The goal is to show why the evidence itself is fascinating.
Who is responsible
TuffShark is independently published and maintained by the TuffShark editorial team. Publication decisions, corrections and source selection remain the responsibility of TuffShark. Questions can be sent directly to TuffShark1@gmail.com.
What makes it different
Important claims are paired with a source and an evidence label. We distinguish a direct measurement from a modeled result, an estimate, a reported record or a synthesis of authoritative references. Reported maximum size is not presented as typical adult size, and an ocean-zone boundary is not presented as an invisible wall.
Scope and limitations
TuffShark is an educational publication, not a university, aquarium, veterinary service or scientific journal. Its role is to explain and compare published evidence in plain language. Readers should follow the linked research and authoritative references when a decision requires the original scientific record.
Independence
TuffShark is not affiliated with Discovery, Shark Week, NOAA, the Florida Museum or any other source referenced on the site. Organizations are named to identify sources, not to imply endorsement.
How AI is used
AI may assist with organization, drafting, coding and visual layout. It is never treated as a scientific source or allowed to replace an identifiable reference. Publication responsibility remains with TuffShark, and biological claims should trace to research, government science programs, museums or established conservation assessments.
Funding and advertising
TuffShark is not currently serving display advertising. It may eventually be supported by clearly identified advertising or relevant affiliate links. Commercial relationships will not determine scientific conclusions, evidence labels or source selection, and sponsored material will be labeled distinctly from editorial content.
